PDF Dunlop crybaby rack wah manual11/30/2022 In the synth world, I have patched very interesting wah type filter sounds using a feedback loop on a highpass filter. What are you wanting to wah? This is directed toward guitars and the famous Cry Baby type discrete inductor circuit. Also has a mod for switchable cap selector for moving the sweet spot. Here is an interesting page with mods to inductor type wah pedals, including an LDR circuit and CV circuit. any thinkings on these ideas? Either modding a guitar wah circuit for CV, or perhaps using a VCrBPF that is suitable? If anyone knows of a good modular VCF that would fit this role, that would cure this whole problem in two shakes of a lamb's tail.Īnyhow. I think it has something to do with the slope (I think it has to be pretty steep), as well as how the wah circuits distort and get all pissed off sounding especially when used with certain types of fuzz circuits before the wah. Wah circuits are pretty specialized things in certain ways, I've never located a modular VCrBPF that sounded like guitar wah pedals do, but I've only tried a few synth filters for that. I'd just use a modular VCF for this (wahs are typically just resonant BPFs) but the problem with using synth filters as guitar wahs is that they plain old just don't sound the same, no matter how you set the resonance. I'm good with DIY/soldering/circuit bending, and so on. So can I perhaps replace the wah's sweep pot with a jack (wired properly) so that a VCA can sweep the wah circuit somehow? Imagine the possibilites if that were accomplished (manual sweeping, sequenced sweeping, LFOCV, EG, wow.) I have a pedal interface, a couple of Moog EP2 expression pedals, and a VCA available. Is there some way to use a VCA in place of the wah's 25k sweep pot to do the sweeping? If so, all of that freq center and sweep amount stuff easily falls into place after that. Most wah pedal circuits use a 25k standard 3-terminal pot to control the frequency center. I can set the freq center on the filter, and the amount of modulation the expression pedal provides by adjusting the "amount" of FM at the VCF itself. Just like how you can do exactly that when using an expression pedal to sweep a VCF. I'd like to be able to somehow create a synth patch/setup where I can not only chose the freq bandwidth (or "spread") of the pedal's electrical sweep, but also it's frequency center. It's like trying to thread a needle during a fist fight. Sometimes it's as little as 20% or less of the treadle's sweep, which makes it pretty difficult for some guitar players (like me) to get what I want out of the wah while trying to restrain the energy flowing through my body as I begin to get more physical with the guitar. One of the things about guitar wah pedals that bugs me is that the sweet spot of the treadle's sweep can be very (small, narrow, limited. So here's where more evidence of my limited knowledge shows up.
